To learn a new formation, you must choose a specific class as an Emperor. Each class that is not recruited from within Avalon will grant a new formation. To learn the new formation, talk to the Formations expert in Avalon Castle.
If the player is dashing while touching an enemy, or an enemy touched the player from behind on the field, you will lose your formation bonus and default to Free For All.

Mu Palisade[edit]
Learned From: Saigo Clansman

However, because each character is auto-defending until their turn, your party will sustain significantly less damage. This is a great formation to use when your are fighting enemies which deal heavy damage.
